Standard trucks are the exact same design as a full size set of skateboard trucks. The kingpin is built into the base plate and sticks out, so you can screw a nut onto the end of it to secure your hangar. For inverted trucks, rather than having the kingpin built into the baseplate, the baseplate is hollowed out with threads built into them, and you screw the kingpin in through your hangar to secure them. Because of these different features, they perform differently as well. Standard trucks are easier to lock into truck grinds on rails because of the kingpin sticking out but will have more friction on ledges. Inverted trucks have a smooth bolt-head on the contact point so it won’t lock into rails as easily but it will provide a much smoother grind surface.
