Frequently Asked Questions

What size fingerboard trucks should I use?

Fingerboard truck sizing does come down to personal preference, but it should always be about the same width as your deck. For example, a deck that is 33mm wide should be paired up with trucks either 32mm, 33mm, or 34mm wide. Anything smaller or wider is technically possible but is usually not advised as it could make some grinds more difficult and make the board feel unbalanced.

Inverted vs. Standard - What’s the difference between inverted and standard fingerboard trucks?

Standard trucks are the exact same design as a full size set of skateboard trucks. The kingpin is built into the base plate and sticks out, so you can screw a nut onto the end of it to secure your hangar. For inverted trucks, rather than having the kingpin built into the baseplate, the baseplate is hollowed out with threads built into them, and you screw the kingpin in through your hangar to secure them. Because of these different features, they perform differently as well. Standard trucks are easier to lock into truck grinds on rails because of the kingpin sticking out but will have more friction on ledges. Inverted trucks have a smooth bolt-head on the contact point so it won’t lock into rails as easily but it will provide a much smoother grind surface.

What are the best fingerboard trucks?

Good quality fingerboard trucks will always be made of metal rather than plastic and come in varying widths to fit what you want. Some high-quality brands include but are not limited to, Blackriver, Dynamic, Yellowood, and Caramel.

Top 3 Fingerboard Truck Brands
