Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best material for Fingerboard wheels?

Fingerboard wheels typically only come in 2 materials: plastic or urethane. Plastic wheels are extremely common and usually cost less than a urethane wheel. Urethane wheels are made of the same compound as actual skateboard wheels, so they provide a more realistic feel and sound.

What is the difference between single-bearing and dual-bearing fingerboard wheels?

Single-bearing wheels have only one bearing while dual-bearing wheels come with two, like actual skateboard wheels. Dual-bearing wheels will perform slightly better if one of the bearings fails or is dirty; you still have a second functional bearing that will roll. The drawback is that very few trucks on the market can accommodate dual-bearing wheels. Most trucks on the market can only fit single-bearing wheels, which are the most common.

What is the difference in fingerboard wheel sizes?

Fingerboard wheels typically come in 3 sizes: mini, standard, or large; verbiage may vary between brands. Each size does have its benefits and drawbacks, but ultimately, it comes down to personal preference. Mini or small wheels will keep your deck lower to your riding surface which will make pops not quite as high but will keep the board more level for flip tricks. Larger wheels will require more force to pop due to the deck being lifted higher, which will result in higher pops but a bit less control in flip tricks when learning. Standard is right in the middle and will give medium pop and medium control for all flip tricks; most wheels on the market come this size.
