Five Luck officially launched in 2015, though owner Burt Tunstall had already spent years refining his craft and making hundreds of decks before ever selling them. That dedication helped shape the well-known Five Luck molds, which have earned a strong reputation throughout the fingerboarding community. The brand is also known for its vibrant wood dyes, with some of the brightest and most saturated veneers around.
The Fu mold was introduced in 2016 as a balanced, high-performance shape with an overall medium feel. It features a slightly steeper and longer nose compared to the tail, along with Five Luck’s standard concave and a traditional wheelbase. The result is a comfortable, versatile shape that works well for both beginners and advanced riders.
The Tech 5 mold is considered Burt’s flagship shape and has become Five Luck’s most popular option. Known for its highly functional short shape, it features kicks modeled after the Fu tail design, with carefully refined geometry and wheelbase adjustments dialed in down to tiny details. The Street version features a popsicle shape, while the Standard version is boxy.
